Artist - Erin Wheeler

 Bio:

I was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and grew up in northern Virginia.  I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in May 2008, and spent the spring and summer of 2007 in the Media Design department of the Fachhocshule Schwaebisch Hall (FHSH) in Germany focused on 2D animation.  My work is informed by my analysis of folklore, fables, and contemporary children’s media,  and I am inspired by the imagery in my own dreams.  A focus on small transformations is at the heart of my work.  My colorful paintings combine an awareness of the challenges we all confront with a sense of wonder for the process we must carry out to overcome them.  In capturing moments of reflection, frustration, and discovery, I am interested in exploring the paths taken to reach a place of peace.
