Matthew Scott is an artist living in Tacoma. After serving in the Afghan conflict, he found himself lost in the civilian world and looking for answers to some very difficult questions. After picking up a brush and painting his first picture on a whim, Matthew began to see how art could answer many of those questions and pave the way to a better understanding of the new, beautiful world he was now a part of. He draws upon influences such as calligraphy, religious art, and graffiti to express the wonder and hope of a life renewed.
