Artist - Sonja Morgan
Sonja Morgan grew up in the Northwest. She graduated from the Eastern Washington University with a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She went to college to become a writer but decided to slowly change directions as “life happened.” She later earned a Master of Arts in Human Services: Business Management from Liberty University located in Lynchburg, Virginia.
She taught English at Jingmei Technical College in Beijing, China for a summer quarter. A year later she married her husband who soon after decided to join the Navy. Being a naval wife, and working as a travel agent (a passion of hers), enabled Sonja to travel around the globe. She is always seeking new ways to experience the diverse cultures of the world – learning as she goes. These cultures have helped to develop her artistic eye.
After returning from a 4-year hiatus to the East Coast (Virginia), Sonja has gone back to her roots and is embracing the beautiful Northwest for all it has to offer. She enjoys immersing herself in the creation of nature and everything that is full of color. Her abstract photography is her specialty and she often is inspired by old, abandoned objects that accrue rust and moss.
Sonja is a full time artist. She dedicates most of her time to attending shows or contributing to her wall at the Parklane Gallery in Kirkland. She also has a new collection of work on display at the new Dark Horse Art Co. in Seattle. When Sonja is not working on art, she loves to train for half marathons and scrapbook. Sonja is a wedding photographer; she does photos for children, family and outdoor senior portraits.
Her abstract expression and brilliant use of colors helps to encourage others during this difficult period – her work offers an escape.
