Artist - Ismael Beltran
My name is Ismael Beltran, but everyone calls me “Izzy”. I am a painter! I was born and raised down in Southern California in the city of Santa Ana. I had temporarily moved up here to Seattle just for a change of view. I ended up falling in love with Seattle and decided to stay. I am a self taught artist who has been drawing since I can remember. I started off copying photographs of thing I found interesting in encyclopedias.
I love to sketch and draw everything that I see, and if you have seen my work I like to put a little twist to it. I work with acrylics but there’s a sense a sketch sort of feel to my work. My work has a lot of high contrast and high detail to it. Line composition is key in my work.
The first time that I got published was in 2000 when I entered a school competition for the designing of my school year book at Villa Intermediate School in Santa Ana. Later in High school I joined the journalism class and became the first ever school cartoonist at Santa Ana High School. In college my artwork was published for a school exposition flyer at South Seattle Community College. I recently been published with a company I did a few designs for called Vessel Drink ware (vesseldrinkware.com).
I love art and always will. My artistic goal is for my art to be seen by all. So until I see the last curtain fall I will live for art
